ZigBee™ is a wireless network technology that enables long lifetime with low power consumption using dry batteries. The technology is well suited to a wide range of Automatic Meter Reading System, Wireless Sensor Network, Wire Replacement, and location positioning applications.

The development platform enables wireless communication via a physical (PHY) layer and media access (MAC) layer that comply with the IEEE 802.15.4 specifications. Optionally, with the ZigBee SDK available separately, the development platform enables wireless peer-to-peer mesh networking via ZigBee protocol that complies with Enhanced ZigBee standard, allowing system developers and OEMs to easily develop ZigBee™ prototypes and products.
