September 13,
2004,
HSINCHU, Taiwan, and MILPITAS, Calif,— UBEC (Uniband
Electronic Corp.), a wireless communication IC
design house, announced the UZ2400, a versatile ZigBee(TM)-ready
IC. It is a CMOS single
chip specifically designed for the wireless
2.4-GHz IEEE 802.15.4 standard.
Integrating RF and
baseband/MAC functions, the UZ2400 provides a serial
peripheral interface (SPI) and can be controlled by a
microprocessor for use in low data rate, low-power
applications such as home automation, industrial
control, automatic meter reading, PC peripherals, toys,
and home appliances.
Featuring -95
dBm sensitivity and a -15
dBm maximum input level, the UZ2400 is a
ZigBee(TM)-ready
chip that integrates all 802.15.4 MAC timing critical
controls such as the CSMA/CA algorithm, a
beacon timer, and a sleeper timer. This reduces
processing power requirements, allowing designers more
flexibility in choosing an external microprocessor. The
IC supports all seven AES security modes and features an
integrated VCO, PLL filter, voltage regulator, and RF
T/R switch.
Housed in a 48-pin,
7x7 mm2 QFN package, the UZ2400 is designed to reduce
BOM component counts. High-performance reference boards
with on-board microprocessor and software development
kit available upon request.
