HSINCHU, Taiwan, JUNE 9, 2006
-- UBEC (Uniband Electronic Corp.), a Taiwan-based RF/mixed-signal
IC design house, announced today that its ZigBeeTM
single-chip transceiver UZ2400 and the ZigBeeTM
stack co-developed with III based on its IZAP, III
ZigBee Advanced Platform protocol stack, had passed ZCP
(ZigBeeTM compliant platform) of ZigBeeTM
Alliance. The certifications are performed by TUV (TUV
Rheinland), which is a ZigBee Alliance authorized
testing house.
ZigBeeTM is a wireless communication standard
featuring low cost, low power and high-flexibility
network architecture. It is especially suitable for
wireless sensor network adopted for home and building
automation, industry control automation and AMR
(automatic meter reading) applications.
UZ2400 is a mixed-mode solution for ZigBeeTM,
which includes MAC, baseband and RF transceiver
integrated on a single chip. UBEC announced its mass
production in March 2006. UZ2400 features the common
ZigBeeTM properties of low power, low cost
and flexible network. In addition, this chip uniquely
integrates hardware acceleration functions such as CSMA-CA,
automatic ACK, 128-bit AES security engine and
Superframe architecture that efficiently decrease the
MAC/PHY driver requirements with fewer flash/ROM
memories required.
UBEC has completed certifications of both hardware and
software ZigBeeTM platform. The certified
transceiver IC (UZ2400) and protocol stack provide
clients a reliable platform for various ZigBeeTM
applications. The certification also ensures
interoperability between UBEC’s and other ZigBeeTM
certified platforms and accelerates the acceptance of
compliant products in industrial and commercial markets.
UBEC is excited to have developed products that enable
such innovative possibilities in wireless applications
and strives to continue providing products, solutions
and best services for this emerging market.

About Institute for Information Industry (III)
The Institute for Information Industry (III) was
established in 1979 as a non-profit organization,
jointly sponsored by the Taiwan government and dozens of
prominent private enterprises, for the purpose of
strengthening Taiwan's information industry development.
III's unique success in a well-architected collaboration
between the government and private sectors has drawn
great attentions worldwide. Today III is increasingly
involved in international collaboration projects,
bringing the benefits of its highly trained and
experienced technology staff and management
professionals to ICT projects across the globe. Current
research areas at the Networks and Multimedia Institute
(NMI), which is part of the III, NMI develops innovative
technology, integrated systems or advanced applications,
including wireless sensor networks such as IZAP and
IEEE802.15.4 related research fields.
