2006 Taiwan Semiconductor Day, which was sponsored by the Bureau of
Foreign Trade, M.O.E.A. and organized by Taiwan External
Trade Development Council, was held on May 16 in Seoul.
Eight outstanding Taiwanese companies in the field of IC
design, IC manufacturing, IC testing and IC packaging
gathered and formed a trade mission to establish
contacts and seek business relationship with more than
100 attendees from Korean semiconductor-related
industrial associations and companies.
The main program of 2006 Taiwan Semiconductor Day included
presentations from individual companies, business
meetings, and special interviews from Korean press. Mr.
David C. W. Chang, Director of the Semiconductor
Industry Promotion Office of the Industrial Development
Bureau, M.O.E.A., made a speech on “The Opportunities of
Investment and Strategic Alliance with Taiwan’s
Semiconductor Industry” to promote the competitiveness
of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry to Korean companies.
In addition, the trade mission members also paid a one-day visit to
Korea Semiconductor Industry Association and IT-SoC
Association to exchange experiences and ideas on
industrial development. The member list included United
Microelectronics Corp., Ardentec Corp., ASIX Electronics
Corp., Integrated Service Technology, Macronix
International Co., Ltd., SamHop Microelectronics Corp.,
Socle Technology Corp., and
Uniband Electronic Corp.
