HSINCHU, Taiwan and MILPITAS, Calif., July 06,
2005 -- UBEC (Uniband Electronic Corp.), a
leading fabless semiconductor company
specializing in WLAN RF transceivers, ZigBeeTM
compliant IC, WLAN/Bluetooth Power Amplifiers
and Broadband Amplifiers for satellite receiver,
announced today the mass production of
UW2453/UW2453L, a highly integrated 802.11b/g
WLAN transceiver with an integrated power
amplifier and low power consumption. UW2453 has
a nominal power output of +18 dBm while the
UW2453L is a lower power, lower current
consumption version of +14 dBm power output.
Built on the success of UW2451 and UW2452,
UBEC’s 11b/g and 11a/b/g transceivers
respectively, the UW2453/UW2453L made a giant
step forward by integrating the power amplifier
and the PLL loop filter while reducing the die
size and power consumption. UW2453/UW2453L
feature an advanced transceiver architecture
that integrates a PA, receive/transmit RF front
end, VCO, Sigma-Delta PLL, loop filter, VGA,
RSSI, RX/TX filter and advanced calibration
circuits such as VCO calibration on a single
chip. As such, the RF BOM is dramatically
reduced by 50% from the previous design.
UW2453/UW2453L further improve the RX DC
cancellation gain settling time by incorporating
UBEC’s patented circuit design.
UW2453/UW2453L have a
noise figure of 3 dB and consume 76 mA in
the receive mode. At +18 dBm power output,
UW2453 consumes 228 mA while the
corresponding value is 160mA at +14 dBm
power output for UW2453L. This makes
UW2453/UW2453L highly desirable for WLAN
products especially for portable devices
such as VoIP in a mobile phone where the
power consumption is a very critical
consideration.
UW2453/UW2453L are housed
in a 48-pin 7x7 mm2 QFN package. Similar to
UW2451 and UW2452, UW2453/UW2453L require no
external RF calibration to make an 802.11b/g
WiFi and FCC compliant product.
